LEED Platinum House

This new home was inspired by the form of vernacular New Jersey Bank Barns, which sit sideways on hills. The house was planned as a LEED for Homes project. The challenge was to pay close attention to the budget and aim for high energy efficiency.

It features 2x6 stud walls with a hybrid insulation system as well as compact massing and a construction methodology which allows for excellent air-sealing.

Ground-source heat pump (geothermal) heating and cooling and a 9.2 kW solar array brought the project up to LEED Platinum level certification. Low maintenance materials and a generator provide easy maintenance and resilience during storms.
